Jamie Johnson ~
Born in the deep woods in southern Oregon, I was raised in the company of wolves,
goats and chickens! When I was about five or six years old, we finally got electricity and a TV.
Star Trek reruns became my favorite past time. I started reading pretty voraciously in junior
high, with my father recommending the good stuff to me, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Andre Norton,
J.R.R. Tolkien, and Robert Heinlein, amongst myriad others! Just maybe even more than these
great stories captured my imagination, it was the cover art that made me want to draw and
paint these incredible escapes from reality. When I turned 19 I left home had some adventures
of my own, joined the United States Army, and got married, deployed to Desert Storm, got
back, had a child with my wife and got out of the army, then went to work for NASA, all the
while drawing and painting, and making escapist art. I currently reside in California, north of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert, with my wife and our two cats, Hiro and Oppenheimer.
